About "The Taverning Catholic"
Paul Ransdell grew up in the Highlands of Louisville, Ky., steeped in Catholic culture. His youth centered on parish activities – Boy Scouts, football, basketball, Oktoberfests, and the like – but he received no Catechesis after baptism.
Since his freshman year in college, Paul has been a professing Christian and an active Southern Baptist. In January 2023, after ten years of discernment, he completed RCIA and came into full communion with the Catholic Church. He is a Lector, OCIA instructor, member of Knights of Columbus, and serves on Parish Council at the Cathedral of Christ the King in Lexington, Ky.
Paul holds an undergraduate degree in Literature from Georgetown College, a master’s degree in leadership from Spalding University, and a doctorate in education administration from Vanderbilt University.
After 39 years in nonprofit administration and development, he retired in December 2024. His career spanned higher education, human services, and animal welfare.
Although denying any aptitude for Catholic apologetics, Paul writes, speaks, and encourages others in the truth of Catholicism.
Oh, his father, Bill Ransdell, was the founding Secretary/Treasurer for Moby Dick Seafood restaurants in Louisville; thus, Paul’s appetite for good fried fish, a family trait he shares with five brothers and two sisters. His quest, in part, is to discover the ultimate fish sandwich!
